Automated Victim Notification System Installed at the Kankakee County Sheriff's Sheriff's Office. December 2007
Training was recently held in the Kankakee County Emergency Operation Center (EOC) for local community officials to demonstrate the newly installed Automated Victim Notification System .
The Illinois VINE/AVN (Automated Victim Notification) System is a service through which victims of crime can use the telephone or internet (VINELINK) to search for information regarding their offender's custody status and register to receive telephone and email notification when their offender's custody status changes. Crime victims can also search and register for up-to-date information about their court cases.
The service is made available to our community by Sheriff Bukowski and was brought to Illinois by the Illinois Attorney General's Office.
The Kankakee County Sheriff's Office is pleased to announce the installation of Panasonic Arbitrator In Car Video Systems in squad cars. November 2007
In car video systems (photo) were recently installed in most of the Sheriff's Police squad cars. The systems were recently purchased with the assistance of a COPS grant that was obtained by Sheriff Bukowski through the U.S. Department of Justice and U.S. Congressman Weller's office. The new devices will be used by sheriff's deputies in their squad cars. Deputies have received specialized training in the use of the camera system.
In Car Video Instructors Ptlm. Huey Boyt and Ptlm. Todd Lindsay have been certified by the Law Enforcement Mobile Video Institute (LEMVI) in the use of in car video systems and they provide training to deputies and officers from other police agencies within Kankakee County. For information regarding available training, contact Commander Ray Fairfield at 815-802-7134.
