Man in Custody in Connection with Monday Afternoon’s Shooting in Pembroke Township

The Kankakee County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of a suspect in connection with the shooting that occurred on Monday, June 23, at approximately 5:40 p.m. in Pembroke Township.

Earlier this morning, members of the Kankakee County Sheriff’s Office—working in coordination with the U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force, the Kankakee Area Metropolitan Enforcement Group (KAMEG), the Tri-County Auto Theft Task Force (TCAT), and the Bradley Police K9 Unit—executed multiple search warrants as part of the investigation.

As a result of these efforts, 27-year-old K’Shon K. Jackson of Pembroke Township was taken into custody by Sheriff’s Investigators. Jackson has been charged with Attempted Murder and Aggravated Battery with a Firearm.

“I commend not only our investigators, who have worked tirelessly since the onset of this case, but also all of the officers involved in this morning’s operation,” said Sheriff Mike Downey. “This type of coordinated effort and swift apprehension is made possible when the community and law enforcement work together to hold violent offenders accountable and ensure the safety of our neighborhoods.”

Jackson is currently being held at the Jerome Combs Detention Center, pending an initial appearance before a judge.
